The Noah Wood Journal — Letters from the Workshop.

Notes, essays, and letters from Noah Wood. On hospitality, scent, the dinners we host, and the things made to be lived with.

More from the workshop
Field notes

On the logic of hospitality.

The most luxurious dinner party can be a terrible one. The best one can happen in a small kitchen.

Notes

What we keep on the table.

The good linen comes out, even if it has a small stain. The candles are unscented. The glassware does not match.

Letters

Fragrance first, and the home around it.

A note on what we're working on. The list of things Noah Wood will eventually make is short on purpose.

Field notes

The quiet return of the gentleman.

There was a stretch of years when fragrance was a form of announcement. You could smell a man from across a lobby, a restaurant, a wedding. The point was reach.

Notes

Why we love vintage.

Most of what gets made now is designed to be replaced. It looks correct for a season and then quietly asks to be upgraded. We wanted the opposite: something that looks better with a little wear on it.

Stay close

The letters go out on a slow cadence.

No schedule. No algorithm. Just notes from the workshop, when we have something worth saying.
