There was a stretch of years when fragrance was a form of announcement. You could smell a man from across a lobby, a restaurant, a wedding. The point was reach. The more people who turned, the better the bottle had done its job.

Something has shifted.

The man we keep thinking about doesn't want the room. He wants the people around him. He wants the person he's talking to to lean in slightly and not know why. He wants to be remembered by the people who were actually close, and to leave everyone else out of it.

This isn't modesty. It's precision. It's the difference between being heard and being understood.

The Original was built for the second kind of man. Bright and clean at the top, deeper underneath, and never loud. It doesn't arrive before you. It stays a half-step behind, and it lingers after you've gone.

The gentleman was never really gone. He just stopped shouting. We think that's the more interesting version of him, and we made a bottle for it.
